The Resurrection
The Resurrection
Or think of a supreme commander who is able to assemble an entirely new army within a single day. If someone told you that this supreme commander, with a single trumpet blast, could summon the battalions whose soldiers had dispersed for rest, and arrange the army again in orderly formation, would you not see how unreasonable it would be to claim that this is unbelievable?
Now that you have understood these three examples, look how Naqqāsh-i AzalīAllah, the Pre-Eternal Artist, who adorns and beautifies all things with perfect artistry. turns before our eyes the white page of winter and opens the green page of spring and summer. With His pen of power and QadarDivine decree; Allah’s pre-eternal knowledge, determination, and measure of all things and events. —that is, with His power and determining— He writes upon the page of the earth more than three hundred thousand species of creatures in the most beautiful forms. They are written out simultaneously without being confused with one another or becoming an obstacle to one another. Their forms and modes of formation are distinguished from one another without any confusion or error.
Indeed, can we now still ask how Dhāt-i Hakīm-i HafīzAllah, the Majestic Being whose wisdom is infinite and who preserves and safeguards all things. can preserve the souls of the dead, when He places and preserves the developmental program of a gigantic tree in a tiny seed?
And can we still ask how Dhāt-i QadīrAllah, the Majestic Being of absolute power. will remove or destroy the earth, which blocks the path of His guests on their way to the Hereafter, when He causes the globe to revolve around the sun like a stone in a sling?
Or even how Dhāt-i Dhul-JalālAllah, the Majestic Lord Whose greatness and majesty are boundless. can gather, with a single blast of the Trumpet, the essential atoms and essential particles that have come to know one another by submitting to the order of the body, which resembles a battalion, when by His command
كُنْ فَيَكُون“Be!” and it is. — The Quran 2:117
He forms, from nothing and in perfect order, entirely new armies of atoms within the battalion-like bodies of living beings?
Besides these examples of resurrection in spring, you can clearly observe countless examples and signs of the resurrection that He shows us in every era and every century, even in the alternation of night and day and in the appearance and disappearance of clouds in the sky. Even if you were to go back in thought a thousand years and then compare the past with the future, you would see as many examples of the resurrection as there are centuries and days that have passed.
If, despite witnessing so many examples and likenesses, you still regard the bodily resurrection in the Hereafter as impossible and irrational and deny it, then you will understand how foolish such an assumption is. Look at what the Supreme Decree says about this truth:
فَانْظُرْ اِلٰٓى اٰثَارِ رَحْمَتِ اللّٰهِ كَيْفَ يُحْيِى الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا اِنَّ ذٰلِكَ لَمُحْيِى الْمَوْتٰى وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدٖيرٌLook, then, at the signs of Allah’s mercy: how He revives the earth after its death. Surely, He is the One who will revive the dead, and He is powerful over all things. – The Quran 30:50
In short, there is no reason whatsoever that makes the realization of the resurrection impossible. On the contrary, everything that exists requires its realization.
