Nature Or The Creator

If you refuse to accept that the atoms in your body are tiny officials acting according to the laws of Qadīr-i Azalī, or His army, or the tips of the pen of qader—each atom serving as a tip—or points of the power of Allah—each atom serving as a point—then every active atom in your eye, for example, would itself have to possess an eye capable of seeing every part of your entire body as well as the whole universe with which you are connected. In addition, you would have to attribute to every atom an intelligence equal to that of a hundred geniuses, an intelligence capable of knowing and recognizing your entire past and future, your ancestors and descendants, the origins of all the elements of your being, and the sources of your sustenance.

To attribute the knowledge and insight of a thousand Platos to the atom of someone like you, who does not possess even a trace of understanding in such matters, is a boundlessly foolish superstition.

The Second Impossibility

Your body resembles a wondrous palace with a thousand domes. Each dome is built from stones that support one another without any pillar. Indeed, your body is a thousand times more astonishing than such a palace, for the palace of your body is constantly renewed with perfect order.

Leaving aside the soul, the heart, and the spiritual faculties—which are themselves exceedingly remarkable—even each organ of your body is like a dome. Just as the stones of a dome support one another, the atoms support one another with perfect balance and perfect order. They form an extraordinary structure, a splendid work of art, and a wondrous miracle, such as the eye and the tongue.

If these atoms were not officials acting by the command of the Builder of the universe, then every atom would have to be, in relation to all the atoms in the body, both an absolute ruler and an absolute subject; both identical and opposed in terms of authority. In addition, each would have to be the source and origin of most of the attributes that belong only to Wājibul-Wujūd. One would also have to assume that they possess both limited and all-encompassing capacities at the same time.

Anyone with even a trace of consciousness should understand what an obvious impossibility it is to attribute such a highly ordered, unique work of art, which can belong only to Wāhid-i Ahad, to countless atoms.

The Third Impossibility

If your body, like a letter, were not “written” by the pen of Qadīr-i Azalī, Who is Wāhid-i Ahad, but were instead a “printed impression” of nature and causes, then nature would need to possess not only as many printing letters and printing blocks as there are cells in your body, but also as many as their thousands of combinations.

For example, if a book is written, a single pen, relying on the knowledge of its author, can write the whole book. But if this book were not written and not attributed to the pen of an author, and it were claimed that the book came into existence by itself or through nature, then, as with a printed book, every single letter would require an iron printing letter so that it could be printed.
