Nature Or The Creator

Nature Or The Creator

Conversely, when creation is attributed to its True Creator, the creation of the universe becomes as easy as that of a tree, the creation of a tree as easy as that of a seed, the creation of Paradise as easy as that of spring, and the creation of spring as easy as that of a flower.

Here we shall briefly point to a few of the countless proofs that are explained in detail elsewhere in the Risale-i Nur concerning the wisdom behind the astonishing abundance, limitless profusion, and effortless multiplication of created beings, as well as the ease and speed with which ordered, artistic, and valuable creatures are brought into existence.

For example, it is a hundred times easier to place a hundred soldiers under the command of a single officer than to place one soldier under the command of a hundred officers. Likewise, equipping an entire army becomes as easy as equipping a single soldier when everything is entrusted to one headquarters, one law, one factory, and the command of one king. Conversely, equipping a single soldier becomes almost as difficult as equipping an entire army when it is assigned to numerous headquarters, numerous factories, and numerous commanders. For equipping a single soldier would then require as many factories as are needed for a whole army.

Similarly, by virtue of the mystery of unity, a tree produces thousands of fruits with the ease of producing a single fruit, because all of its vital necessities are supplied through one root, one centre, and one law. This can be plainly observed. But if unity gives way to multiplicity, and the necessities of every fruit must come from different sources, then each fruit becomes as difficult to produce as the tree itself. Even a single seed—which is a summary and index of the entire tree—would become as difficult to produce as the tree, for everything necessary for the life of the tree is likewise necessary for the seed.

There are countless examples like these, all demonstrating that thousands of beings attributed to unity come into existence far more easily than a single being attributed to multiplicity and the association of partners with Allah.

Since this truth has already been established with certainty elsewhere in the Risale-i Nur, we refer the reader to those discussions and here explain only one important secret behind this ease and simplicity from the perspective of Divine Knowledge, Divine Determining, and Divine Power.

Firstly, you are a created being. If you attribute your existence to Qadīr-i Azalī, He creates you from nothing with a single command and through His infinite power in an instant, just as easily as striking a match. But if you attribute yourself to material causes and nature, then, because you are an ordered summary, a fruit, an index, and a miniature register of the universe, the entire universe would have to be carefully examined, its elements sifted through a fine sieve, and the substances composing your body gathered with precise proportions from every corner of existence in order for you to be formed.

For it is acknowledged by all people of sound reason that material causes can only combine and assemble what already exists; they cannot create from nothing that which they do not possess. Since this is so, they would be compelled to gather together the body of even the smallest living being from every region of the cosmos.

Thus, understand how great the ease found in tawhīd is, and how immense the difficulty hidden within associating partners with Allah and within misguidance.
