The Sixth Mystery

O helpless man, afflicted by infinite weakness and endless need! Realize what a precious means and what an accepted intercessor Divine mercy is.

For that mercy is a means of attaining such a Majestic Sultan that the stars and the smallest particles serve together in His army with perfect order and complete obedience. This Majestic Lord, this Eternal Sultan, is absolutely self-sufficient and in need of nothing whatsoever.

He is the One whose riches are infinite and who has no need whatsoever of the universe or of any created thing. The entire cosmos is under His command and governance; everything submits in perfect obedience beneath His majesty and bows in humility before His greatness.

Thus, O man, Divine mercy raises you into the presence of that Absolutely Self-Sufficient and Eternal Sultan. It makes you His friend, His addressee, and honours you with the rank of a beloved servant.

Just as you cannot reach the sun or draw near to it, although its light and reflection nevertheless reach you through a mirror, so too we are infinitely distant from Zāt-i AqdasAllah, the Most Holy One, exalted above all imperfection. and cannot approach Him. Yet the light of His mercy brings Him near to us.

O man! Whoever finds this mercy discovers an eternal and inexhaustible treasury of light.

The way to attain it is by following the SunnahThe sayings, actions, and approvals of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that serve as a model for Muslims. of the Noble Messenger (saw)Sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam (Peace and blessings be upon him), who is described in the Qur’an as “a mercy for the worlds”, and who is the most radiant exemplar, the living embodiment, and the most eloquent herald and interpreter of that mercy.

And the means of attaining this embodied mercy—the one who is “a mercy for the worlds”—is the recitation of salāwāt. Indeed, the very meaning of salāwāt is mercy. Thus, this prayer for mercy offered for that living embodiment of mercy becomes itself a means of attaining the “mercy for the worlds.” Therefore, make salāwāt a means of reaching the “mercy for the worlds,” and take him, in turn, as a means of attaining the mercy of ar-RahmānAllah, the Most Compassionate..

The fact that the entire UmmahThe worldwide Muslim community., in its vast numbers, invokes salāwāt upon the “mercy for the worlds” (saw)—a supplication whose very meaning is mercy—demonstrates in a radiant manner how precious a Divine gift mercy is and how vast and all-encompassing its sphere extends.

In short, just as the most precious jewel in the treasury of mercy, and its gatekeeper, is the person of Muhammed (saw)Sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam (Peace and blessings be upon him), so too its first key is BismillāhirrahmānirrahīmIn the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful., and its easiest key is the recitation of salāwāt.

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِحَقِّ اَسْرَارِ « بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيم » صَلِّ وَسَلَّمْ عَلٰى مَنْ اَرْسَلْتَهُ رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ كَمَا يَلِيقُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَبِحُرْمَتِهِ وَعَلٰۤى اٰلِهِ وَاَصْحَابِهِ اَجْمَعِينَ وَارْحَمْناَ رَحْمَةً تُغْنِيناَ بِهَا عَنْ رَحْمَةِ مَنْ سِوَاكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ اٰمِينَO Allah! By virtue of the mysteries of ‘Bismillāhir-Rahmānir-Rahīm,’ send Your blessings and peace upon the one whom You sent as a mercy to all the worlds, in a manner befitting Your mercy and his exalted rank, and likewise upon all his family and companions. And grant us a mercy that suffices us and makes us independent of the mercy of all Your other creatures. Āmīn.

سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَٓا اِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَٓا اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَلٖيمُ الْحَكٖيمُGlory be to You. We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, You are the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. – The Koran 2:32
