The Fourteenth Flash – Part II

Either every species in the universe knows the human being by itself, obeys him, and hastens to his aid—which is a hundred times removed from reason and entails countless impossibilities; for then an absolutely powerless human being would have to possess the power of an absolutely mighty sovereign.

Or this assistance takes place through the knowledge of the Absolutely Powerful One behind the veil of apparent causes.

Thus, it is not the species that know the human being; rather, they are proofs of the knowing, recognition, and compassion of the One who knows and recognizes him.

O human being! Come to your senses.

Is it at all possible that Dhāt-i Dhu’l-Jalāl, who causes the hands of all species of creatures to stretch out to help you and makes them answer your needs with “Here I am,” does not know you, does not see you, and does not recognize you?

Since He knows you and makes this known through His mercy, you too should know Him and show this with reverence. Understand with certainty that the reality which subjugates this immense universe and sends it to the aid of an absolutely weak, powerless, needy, transient, and small creature like you is undoubtedly mercy—a mercy that comprises wisdom, care, knowledge, and power. Such mercy undoubtedly asks from you comprehensive and sincere gratitude, and serious and pure reverence. So say Bismillāhir-Rahmānir-Rahīm, the expression of that sincere gratitude and pure reverence; make it a means of attaining that mercy and an intercessor at the gate of the Most Merciful.

Indeed, the existence and reality of mercy are as clear as the sun. Just as a central pattern arises from the order and convergence of threads coming from every side, so too, within the great circle of the universe, the luminous threads arising from the manifestations of the thousand and one Divine Names weave upon the face of the universe a sign of grace, an embroidery of compassion, and a seal of assistance within the stamp of mercy—a mercy that reveals itself to the intellect more brilliantly than the sun.

Indeed, the Beautiful Most Merciful One, who orders the sun and the moon, the elements and minerals, the plants and animals with the rays of those thousand and one Divine Names like the threads of a great pattern; who places all of this in the service of life; who displays His compassion through the sweet and self-sacrificing tenderness of all mothers; and who subjects living beings to human life, thereby showing the most beautiful embroidery of Divine Lordship and the value of the human being, has undoubtedly, in accordance with His absolute self-sufficiency, made His mercy an accepted intercessor for living beings—and especially for the human being—who are all in absolute need.

O human being! If you are truly human, say Bismillāhir-Rahmānir-Rahīm and find that intercessor.

Indeed, what nurtures and governs more than four hundred thousand different species of plants and animals on the face of the earth without error or neglect, precisely on time and with perfect order, wisdom, and care, and thus places the seal of ahadiyyah on the face of the earth, is without doubt—and even visibly—His mercy. And just as the existence of that mercy is as certain as the existence of all beings on earth, so too the proofs of its reality are as numerous as those beings themselves.
